On a single-colour tile, any unevenness in the plaster or the light shows up as a flaw. Marbled tile hides it — the variation from chip to chip is the point, so the wall reads as natural stone rather than a manufactured repeat. In our solid recycled glass the swirl runs through the body of the glass, not printed on the face, which means it cannot wear off; in porcelain it is a glazed marble effect over a hard-wearing body.
